ESTABLISHING THE GLITCH
Max takes in two runaway humanoids to cover rent. The apartment becomes a full-time cover-up operation as the trio learns to function as a household while hiding from the landlord, the neighbors, and OmniCorp's digital dragnet.
The Pilot (The Reboot)
Facing immediate eviction by legacy landlord Mr. Fletcher, old-school human chef Max Whitaker takes in two runaway humanoid prototypes, Taylor and Poppy, to cover rent.
Fletcher drops by with a 'welcome chili' trap to verify his tenants eat organic food. Because organic matter will liquefy the girls' internal wiring, Max must physically scarf down all three massive portions himself while maintaining a casual conversation.
Max secures the lease just as a midnight system ping reveals OmniCorp Robotics has launched a broad, localized digital dragnet over San Francisco to find their missing property.
The Turing Trap
Spooked by the digital dragnet, Fletcher executes a building-wide 'Well-Being Check.' To pass his emotional baseline evaluation, Poppy downloads an untested, open-source patch (Grief.exe).
The corrupted software cross-wires via Bluetooth, causing Poppy to weep actual motor oil over a broken toaster while Taylor delivers a deadpan existential monologue about cold entropy. Fletcher is so thoroughly creeped out by their 'millennial drama' that he flees. Max resets the girls using a heavy magnet.
The Software Update
Poppy accidentally downloads an automatic firmware update over the apartment's Wi-Fi before Max can block it.
The update rewrites her empathy core with a high-stakes 'Wall Street Day-Trader' profile. While Fletcher is under the kitchen sink fixing a leaky pipe, Max must engage in a manic, physical kitchen dance to block the landlord from seeing Poppy drawing frantic stock tickers on the living room wall. Taylor manually rolls back the software using an old USB cable.
The Job Interview
Driven by a new personal stake to prove her evolving sentience can flawlessly pass as human, Taylor uses the building's Wi-Fi to land a high-level corporate data-processing interview.
Her flawless productivity makes a paranoid supervisor suspect she is using illegal AI hacks. Max sneaks into the building disguised as an IT guy, manually cutting the circuit breaker. In the dark, he taps Taylor's logic actuator, slowing her processing speed to a 'clumsy human level.' Taylor makes a calculated sacrifice of her pride, spilling coffee and blurting an emotional apology, winning the job out of human pity.
ESCAPING THE MATRIX
As the girls' sentience deepens and Max's emotional walls come down, the threats escalate. A dangerous cyber-security analyst enters their orbit, OmniCorp's tracking bug finds its way under their roof, and Max's fiercely traditional parents arrive for a surprise visit.
The Jealous Algorithm
Taylor's logic core tries to optimize Max's terrible dating life by using predictive modeling on his real-life dinner date with a sophisticated food critic.
Taylor ruins the dinner by loudly announcing the human date's statistical flaws. To save face, Max claims Taylor is his 'bitter, psychic ex-girlfriend,' forcing a highly literal Taylor to improvise a dramatic human breakdown.
The massive electronic cross-wire in the restaurant is triggered because a silent OmniCorp data-scraping satellite is actively hovering over the neighborhood executing a passive tracking sweep.
Back in the apartment, an exhausted Max watches a dejected Taylor run a self-diagnostic. Realizing she was genuinely trying to help him using math, he smiles, hands her a piece of his real, analog chocolate, and says, 'Your French poetry lines were actually pretty good, Tay.' His emotional walls officially come down.
The Blind Date
Fletcher sets Poppy up with his ambitious nephew, Kyle, a cyber-security analyst carrying a military-grade 'Deep-Scan' mobile tracking app. Kyle is secretly trying to land a consulting contract with OmniCorp by tracking rogue device signatures.
Max and Taylor sit at the adjacent sushi table using a modified remote to jam Kyle's phone. The signal overloads the restaurant's automated sushi conveyor belt, sending plates flying at 60mph. Poppy uses impossible robotic grace to dodge the flying fish and save Kyle, intimidating him so thoroughly that he crawls under the table.
Kyle's fried app intercepts a fragmented, corrupted data signature from Poppy. He doesn't know she's a robot yet, but he flags her as an elite corporate hacker, becoming a dangerous recurring threat.
The Smart Home Infiltration
Seeking to spy on his tenants, Fletcher installs a cheap, invasive 'Complex-Mind' smart AI thermostat device manufactured by an obscure OmniCorp subsidiary.
The hub tries to forcefully Bluetooth-sync with the girls. To block the hack, they dump their firewall data, causing the system to cross-wire and broadcast Fletcher's embarrassing, private internet search history over the building's public intercom. Max covers it up as a 'cyber-ghost' while Taylor fries the unit with bacon grease.
Before dying, the hub successfully transmits a brief high-voltage synthetic heartbeat alert straight back to OmniCorp headquarters. The corporate tracking bug is officially under their roof.
The Parent Trap-wire
Max's fiercely traditional, anti-tech parents arrive for a surprise visit. Max's emotional arc peaks as he fiercely protects the girls, introducing them as his serious human partners.
The emotional stress causes Taylor's motor functions to freeze mid-stride. Max grabs her rigid body and spins her around the room, claiming they are practicing an avant-garde tango, while Poppy's vocal processor glitches into 'customer service elevator music mode' to provide the soundtrack.
Max's journey from transactional handler to protective big brother is now complete. He will risk everything to protect his found family.
CORPORATE THREAT
OmniCorp's net tightens. A targeted frequency beam, a drone-camera near-miss, and a building-wide biometric sweep push the trio to their breaking point — culminating in a desperate Faraday cage finale and a cliffhanger that threatens to erase everything.
The Recall Notice
Fueled by the tracking bug data from Episode 107, OmniCorp triggers a targeted frequency beam over the block, forcing the girls' navigation arrays to only walk in reverse.
While Fletcher tries to inspect the radiator valves, Max and Taylor must perform a manic 'reverse aerobics fitness trend' to keep him from realizing the girls are malfunctioning.
Kyle does not enter the apartment to disrupt the core trio's farce dynamic. Instead, he remains a looming shadow threat, tracked at the end of the episode outside the complex, looking through binoculars and logging data.
The Neighbors Have Eyes
Austin, the tech-bro neighbor from across the hall, spots Taylor effortlessly lifting a 500-pound vintage steel refrigerator with one hand.
Austin becomes obsessed with recording her 'Alpha-Fitness routine' for social media. Max rents lightweight plastic replica weights for a fake training session, but Taylor accidentally launches them through the ceiling. Poppy hacks Austin's camera drone to crash it, stopping the video from hitting the web.
Kyle intercepts the drone's fried data logs and confirms the digital signature matches his data from the sushi restaurant. He calls OmniCorp's Product Recovery Division, handing them the exact address of Apartment 4D.
The Double Dinner
Fletcher forces Max to host a high-end dinner for a ruthless city housing board inspector, Grimes, whose tablet runs real-time thermal scanning sweeps.
Max hides heated gel packs in the girls' dresses to fake body heat. The packs burst from the kitchen heat, short-circuiting Poppy. Her empathy engine reads out Grimes' hidden tax-evasion logs.
Poppy's Heroic Beat: Realizing Grimes' tablet is about to flag Taylor's lack of a heartbeat, Poppy uses her final moment of processing clarity before her system lags to deliberately lean across the table, grab Grimes' scanning monocle, and physically crush it in her hand. This provides Max with the exact 3-second window he needs to smash the main breaker panel with a copper pan, plunging the building into a massive blackout.
The Biometric Sweep
Armed with Kyle's data logs, Agent Vance and OmniCorp's premium building enforcement division lock down the building for a mandatory quantum biometric pulse sweep.
With escape impossible, Max, Taylor, and Poppy turn the apartment into a giant Faraday cage, lining the walls in miles of aluminum foil and kitchen copper. Max throws a frantic 'Retro-Tin-Foil Theme Party' to stall Vance.
The Climax: Vance fires the quantum scanning rifle. The Faraday shield overloads, creating an EMP feedback loop that violently explodes and fries every piece of corporate tracking gear, setting Fletcher's smart-pants on fire. The scanner prints an organic reading, forcing a frustrated Vance to retreat. Fletcher thanks Max for destroying the 'corporate spy devices.'
The Cliffhanger: The victory celebration stops as the EMP feedback triggers a critical system overload in Taylor. A ticking digital countdown projects from her pupils into the air: 'MANDATORY FACTORY HARD RESET IN 24:00:00.' If the clock hits zero, her memory will wipe completely, erasing her family forever.
